Our Classroom Website

Welcome !!!

Welcome to Coach Mac's web page. I am excited that you have taken time out of your busy schedule to spend time with me.

I started out a Fred F Florence Gladiator, then I became a Westwood Panther and then had the blessing to be a PROUD SEAGOVILLE DRAGON. But as you already know, change is inevitable and change has happened already - I am now the 7th grade Texas History and 8th grade US History teacher at "THE" Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy.

Students in 7th Grade Texas History will examine all of Texas' vast and interesting history from the Spanish and French Explorers expanding and conquering this land to Texas today. Several of the major concepts studied will include: Texas Geography and Native Texans; Explorers and settlers in Texas; Texas Revolution; The Republic of Texas; Texas Annexation; Manifest Destiny; Early Statehood; Civil War; Reconstruction; Late 19th Century Texas; and 20th Century Texas.

Students in 8th Grade US Studies will examine American History from the causes of the Early American Colonial Era through the Reconstruction Era. Several of the major historical concepts covered throughout the year are: - Early Exploration of the America's; Middle Passage; French and Indian War; the Revolutionary War; the United States Constitution; the Jeffersonian Era; Manifest Destiny; Jacksonian Democracy; the Civil War; and Reconstruction

Basic economic principles such as mercantilism and free enterprise, as well as supply and demand, investing and the impact of economics on politics will also be taught in conjunction with the historical themes.

One of my favorite sayings is "If we don't learn from our past, we are doomed to repeat it." Will you learn from history or will you repeat it? The choice is YOURS.
